Dia de los Muerto part 2

After attending the altar service at Dona Esperanza the next day Nov.2 we headed out to the cemetery. There was colors coming left and right, so beautiful, there was lots of people there. Some came with food, flowers and mariachis, I felt as if I was transported back in time, to what old Mexico must have felt like. Some of tombs where so elaborate, I was told that every tomb have a price, every year you pay for the plot of land, if you don't the remains of the love ones get digging up, until you pay. CRAZY. After the time in the cemetery we went to our friends family home to enjoy the favorite foods of the Don David's father (Dona's Esperanza husband)

The fathers home was so humble and all the brothers shared a piece of the home, there was no sinks to wash your hands, so we had to use water from a bucket that collected rain water. The coolest part was the love we left and how they shared there stories with us, we are so blessed to be part of such wonder, the wonder of our Savior. Tia Aracelie and Abuelito Pedro this day goes out to you, I pray that you have found the peace you where looking for. Blessed be His name.

Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead)

Hola Amigos y Amigas

Saludos desde San Cristobal de las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico!! Here is a bit on our crazy adventure in Mexico!!! Dia de los muertos is a celebration that is a homage to the dead. A day to remember the ones you loved and cared about. You celebrate it by buying tons of yellow flowers, why yellow because the yellow color leads the soul to there destination. Some people began making there preparation two days before, they begin by making the altar, in the altar you have there favorite foods, a picture of them, there favorite drink, candles, and flowers. The actual day of Dia de los muertos, is Nov. 2, Nov. 1 is the day that the little Angeles, come home, meaning all the small children that have passed, they come on that day, so you light up small candles for them. The food needs to be made from starch and when you are done you sit down and eat with them and remember all the things you loved about them. We where invited by Dona Esperanza to come and celebrate, she owns a restaurant named "el pitufo" the smurf, (Good food)

So long America

So long America you've are all I've known. My life will soon take a new path, we will be moving to San Cristobal de las Casa in Chiapas, Mexico. I am going to miss everyone but so excited to start a new journey to start a slower pace of life. I want to go to place that values family, hard work but also has time to stop and smell the roses. San Cristobal is in the highlands of Mexico, it is so beautiful, full of life and culture.
